Team Info

Astralis has been showing that even though they are the current number one team in the CS:GO professional scene they are still mortal. They won a best of three against Na’vi in with a 2:0 and did the same to CLG both showing that they are no match for Astralis in their current form. However when we look at the SL i-League StarSeries Season 3 Finals where Astralis played against FaZe we can see that they can be matched by the current top teams. FaZe took this series 2:1 but it was a close series overall. Astralis won the first map 16:14 and took a huge beating on the second map Nuke which resulted in a 6:16. This could’ve already been a 2:0 if Astralis had made one more mistake on Mirage. The final map was Inferno in which it went Overtime and resulted in a 19:17 win for FaZe. This match could’ve been anyones win with how the rounds turned out. FaZe really showed Astralis that they can’t just lean backwards and stay at the top. Since this match Astralis has played only a Best of Two against Hellraisers which they won 2:0. They took an easy map win on Overpass with a 16:9 score. However on Mirage the game was much closer, on CT Astralis only got 8 rounds against HellRaisers which was lacking for a team of this caliber. They did get the win in the end by showing a strong T side which Astralis is known for but a 16:14 is to close for comfort.

Virtus.pro is a team that has many ups and downs as shown over the long lifespan that this roster has gone through. Sometimes they play really good out of nowhere and sometimes it makes you wonder if they are really a top team. In their past five matches they’ve lost four of them. They played Fnatic in a best of one on Inferno and took a huge beating. The final score was 16:2 for Fnatic, not only was this a complete stomp it was also an elimination match for the SL i-league StarSeries Season 3 and they really had to show better results here than what they ended up with. Following this they played a Best of Two against LDLC and lost both maps. On Inferno they played it close resulting in a 13:16 loss against LDLC. Nuke on the other hand was a complete disaster and they lost 5:16 to LDLC. They also played NiP very recently in a Best of Two in which they ended up with a 1:1 score. They lost 9:16 on Cobblestone but they did win Nuke with a 16:6 score which really shows how inconsistent this team is even on the maps they play often.

Looking at what these teams have achieved in the past couple of months my first thought is definitely to place a bet on Astralis. They have shown to be way more consistent and I just cannot feel comfortable placing a bet on a team like Virtus.pro with the state that they are in now. I do not exclude the chance of Virtus.pro stepping it up out of nowhere and taking this series the long way but it is not very likely. Astralis did lose against FaZe recently but FaZe is an extremely strong team right now and Virtus.pro is not at the same standard and I do not think they can bring what FaZe brought in the Finals. The maps Train and Inferno favor both these teams and are both maps that they play very often. Virtus.pro is known as a strong Train team and in previous match-ups against Astralis actually won this map with ease. The same can be said about Inferno when these teams met Virtus.pro actually took the win 16:8. This makes the risks of this match very high which is also reflected in the odds of the matchup. I am still going with a bet on Astralis for both these maps because Virtus.pro is just not in form and the last time the teams matched up against each other was beginning of March. My personal odds are 60:40 for Astralis and I am going with a low bet on them.
